Horseback Tours of Griffith Park
Hooper Trail Horses is proud to open a new kind of riding adventure in Griffith Park, which is something I have wanted to do for some time. I have had so many people ask me where they can ride horses, but not a rental horse. So here is my answer.
I have personally gone out and selected and trained my palomino Trigger to be just what my clients are looking for. Trigger will please the most advanced rider as well as the novice. My other horse has all the same qualities that you are going to love. The maximum for any group is two people so your ride is private and at your own speed.
If you are looking to have a good time riding horses, you have to experience a ride with me.
Please look below at the following tours of the park and pick the best one for yourself. The ride is just the three of us, so we will go at whatever pace you are comfortable with.
You will not find any riding experience like this anywhere.
- Have your own personal Wrangler.
- Ride a privately owned and trained horse. (not a rental)
- Learn from a Certified Riding Instucter.
- Enjoy the freedom of riding at your pace.
- Don’t own a horse? Come and ride Trigger.

Griffith Park Observatory / Lunch At Wolfgang Pucks:
The Griffith Park Observatory is one of Los Angeles’ favorite attractions. You will love the experience of riding over the hill and under the Hollywood Sign on the way. We saddle up and ride right up to the parking lot of the observatory and I stay with the horses while you take a look around. You will find beautiful views from the Wolfgang Puck Café while you enjoy your lunch.
You will spend about an hour at the Observatory before returning to your horse where we once again take off and come back over the hill.
Gene Autry Museum With A Cowboy Breakfast:
Visit the Gene Autry Museum where you will have the unique opportunity to hear inspiring stories of the people, cultures and events that have shaped the wild west. Have a “Cowboy Breakfast” at the Golden Spur Café. See the old west through the eyes of Remington Art Colt and relieve the western myths of radio, television and movies.
Once we arrive at the museum, we dismount and you walk up to the museum for breakfast and a tour. I stay with the horses in the tie pen until your return. Once we get re-mounted we take off in to the hills of the park. From this point on, the ride is yours and we can explore anywhere you want to.
Explore The Park With A Sack Lunch From Whole Foods:
This ride is a kick in the pants. We take off from the stable and explore the park and make up our way as we go. We will hit many of the attractions Griffith Park has to offer.
Along the way we stop at one of many rest areas and view spots and have lunch. Bring a camera for this one you will want to take lots of pictures.
Mount Hollywood Sunset Ride:
This ride takes you up to Mount Hollywood where you are 900ft above Los Angeles. From here you have a 360 degree view of Los Angeles and the Valleys. We leave at 4:00pm so we arrive just at the right time for a beautiful sunset. Once we arrive, I tie up the horses and you can relax, take pictures and have something to eat.
Add: Champagne and cheese: $50.00 additional charge for the ride.
Enjoy a split bottle of Pierre Juliet Champagne and an assortment of cheese and crackers.
